One of the very first steps, before the ponds are filled with water, is to strengthen the surrounding dikes of the ponds. It assures that the dikes are strong enough and can "survive" the entire shrimp farming season. They are reinforced with soft mud which is coming from the bottom of the pond and contains enough clay. Overall the dikes are pretty wide in terms of size. Reason for that? It ensures that the water stays in the pond and prevents the risk of water seepage through the dike.

The height of the Luna Shrimp Farms’ pond dikes are 1,5 to 2 meter. And the ponds are eventually filled with water reaching up to 1 to 1,2 meter. Making the dikes high enough that pond water can never reach the top. Not even during rainy season.
