A good breakfast fuels you up and gets you ready for the day

Affiliated Luna Shrimp Farms’ farmer Mr. Sidam Mondol is having breakfast with his wife and daughter.
The breakfast consists of rice and vegetables from their own vegetable garden. And a delicious mango. It’s currently mango season in Bangladesh. This is a very common breakfast dish for Bangladeshi people.

Anything else Bangladeshi eat for breakfast?
From time to time they also eat fish with rice and dal. The main ingredient of dal are pulses. Either dried lentils, peas, or beans. Or simply a mixture of those. The broken pulses are being cooked with herbs and spices, forming a delicious paste or stew called dal.

Another dish to start the day with is panta bhat. Panta bhat is simply soaked rice. The rice that has been cooked the night before, stays in the water the entire night. Resulting in a nutritious breakfast for the next morning.

Heaving breakfast on a mat?
Indeed. In most of the rural areas, people use a mat to sit on while eating or when gathering together with family and friends. This is part of their culture. The mat is a handicraft too. It is made of long grass. To be more specific, kauna grass. Some farmer families make these mats themselves which they sell to the local market. Forming an extra income next to their shrimp farming activities!
